WHAT TO SEE AND DO:
Cathedral Cove is a must do here in the Coromandel! The beautiful arch is a favourite photo spot for New Zealanders and tourists alike. Movies such as 'Prince Caspian' in the Narnia series were filmed on this beautiful beach. Only a 30 - 40 minute drive from Turtle Cove.
Hot Water Beach is a phenomenon not often found. Two hours either side of low tide you can dig a hole in the sand and it will fill up with hot water. Be careful it can burn! There is nothing better than sitting in the hot water as the sun goes down. Only a 30 - 40 minute drive from Turtle Cove and a few minutes down the road from Cathedral Cove.
New Chums Beach is a beautiful stretch of white sand and clear water. Only accessed through a forest walk but well worth it. The beach is so long that even when it is busy there is more than enough space to spread out. A 40 minute drive from Turtle Cove.
Down The 309 Road:
This is an unsealed road but has so many amazing adventures down it. 40 minutes down the road are the Waiau Falls, a beautiful waterfall that you can swim in. A perfect photo opportunity.
30 minutes down the road is the Kauri Tree Grove. Walk through a fern forest to see New Zealand's native Kauri trees and how tall they grow.
10 minutes down the road is the Egan Park Waterhole where the locals spend their summer days cooling off in the cool, clear waters. There are rope swings and jumping spots along the water for the more adventurous travellers.
